Wet Paint

Over fifteen years ago, an old friend introduced me to the joys of plein air painting. It’s a method of directly recording the landscape from life, usually over a short period of time.

The artist cannot take his time. Everything constantly changes. Water never sits still. Clouds drift. The light steadily and surely shifts westward. The experience can overwhelm an artist!

It’s also thrilling. If I could bring you with to hear the sounds, to the feel of the breeze, so you could notice the animals and people, the activities which do not make it into the painting, but dance through reality unrecorded. By capturing the color and feel of the scene, I get as close as I can to bring that hour of light to you.
