About

Matthew grew up making art. In fact, the back side of his mother’s furniture still sports some of his early crayon work. While his dad went to engineering school in Texas, he first remembers his first painting around age 5: a beautiful green, orange, and red mess he called an iguana. Because he sketched and cartooned incessantly, his parents worked art into his homeschool curriculum. They felt great relief when after college he acquired an illustrator’s job at Abeka, the company which made the textbooks they used. After getting his MFA, he began freelancing, working on a variety of projects from children’s books to motion comics to textile designs to experimental airplane paint schemes. During this time he connected with the Christian indie film community, beginning to work on a few movies. This work eventually leds him back to Texas where he met his wife in a whirlwind romance—literally! He courted her while helping clean up from Hurricane Harvey. He currently serves at Pictogifts as Manager of Pictograghography and works at knowing his wife better while renovating with her a hotel built in the late 1800’s. Matthew feels profound gratitude for the Lord’s redeeming work, transforming self-serving fools into servants of grace. And for his wife’s hugs. Wife hugs are the best.

Shanna learned collaboration at an early age—in the womb! As the younger of identical twins, she and her sister created dramatic theatricals with their sisters and brother, and anyone else they could requisition. They lived in a close knit family community with one set of grandparents a quick drive away and the other set next door, close enough to run over and grab a cookie. Their strong ties to the past only grew stronger as they walked one grandparent and then another to heaven’s doors. To preserve the past Shanna produced and co-directed Anchored, a documentary on her WWII veteran grandfather. Later, she and her sister wrote a children’s book on reformer Katharine von Bora. Recently she survived a hurricane and married an artist. She currently serves at Pictogifts as Manager of Collaboration and helps her husband renovate a hotel built in the late 1800’s. Shanna rejoices for God’s provision in granting her the love of two extended families and love within her little family. And her ice cream maker. Ask her about it.
